White House: Biden and Sunak discussed the situation in the Red Sea and the Ukrainian conflict

US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak discussed the escalating situation in the Red Sea and the Ukrainian conflict, according to John Kirby, coordinator of strategic communications at the White House National Security Council.

“They discussed the events taking place in the Red Sea,” Kirby was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying.

In addition, he added, the sides discussed the situation in Ukraine, as well as the conflict in the Gaza Strip, pointing to the need to increase the supply of humanitarian aid to the enclave.

Yahya Sari, a military spokesman for the Ansar Allah movement, said earlier that the Yemeni Houthis had launched a missile strike on the US ship Chem Ranger in the Gulf of Aden and recorded a direct hit.

The White House then said US troops had carried out three “successful self-defence strikes” against targets in Yemen.
