Stoltenberg: NATO has increased presence near Russia’s borders to stop escalation

The North Atlantic alliance has increased its military presence near Russia’s borders to prevent escalation.

This was announced by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

According to him, after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, “two tasks have become obvious for NATO.”

“The first is to support Ukraine…. The other objective is to prevent escalation and full-scale war between NATO and Russia,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Stoltenberg noted that NATO is achieving this by strengthening its eastern flank and investing in defence.

Earlier, Stoltenberg said that the alliance sees no direct or imminent threat from Russia.
