Among the members of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations in the United States there were disagreements about the bill that would give US President Joe Biden the right to transfer frozen Russian assets to Ukraine. This is stated in the material Politico with reference to sources.
“Senator Ben Cardin, who chairs the committee, will offer an amendment that could soften the draft. Cardin wants to introduce language that would allow asset transfers only with the consent of all G7 member countries,” the author of the article reported.
It is noted that the corresponding amendment will complicate the implementation of the bill. At the same time, according to the newspaper, around the transfer of assets of Russia in the Senate Committee there is a “behind-the-scenes struggle”.
Earlier, former head of the World Bank Robert Zoellick called “elegant” withdrawal of Russia’s reserves.
