NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg says the alliance has signed a $1.2bn contract for the purchase of 155mm artillery shells.
He said after the document signing ceremony.
“We have just signed a contract for the purchase of artillery ammunition of 155 mm calibre worth $1.2 billion,” TASS quoted him as saying.
In November, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said that the European Union’s plan to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with 1 million rounds of ammunition was unrealistic.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba explained the delay in the delivery of the ammunition by the sad state of the EU military industry and bureaucracy.
