The Ministry of Defence of the FRG expects to train about 10 thousand soldiers of the AFU in 2024

The German authorities expect that in 2024 about 10 thousand Ukrainian soldiers will be trained in the FRG.

This was stated in an interview with the newspaper Welt am Sonntag by the head of the working group for the coordination of assistance to Ukraine under the Ministry of Defence of the FRG, Major General Christian Freuding.

According to him, this figure can be increased if necessary.

“However, in reality we will have to weigh up together with the Ukrainians: how long can we recall them from the front for qualification and how far can we go in qualification?” – TASS quoted Freuding as saying.

At the end of December, the first group of six Ukrainian pilots graduated from the basic training programme in the UK and started the practical part in the form of training on F-16 fighter jets in Denmark.

Also, the French Defence Ministry announced the start of training exercises of the AFU pilots for 2024.
