Former US government officials have said that the North Atlantic Alliance’s “miracle weapons” did not contribute to the success of the Ukrainian counter-offensive. This opinion was expressed by the former chief of mission of the US embassy in Saudi Arabia, David Rundell, and former US Central Command adviser Michael Gfeller in an article for Newsweek magazine.
“NATO miracle weapons such as HIMARS and Leopard tanks have failed to provide an effective Ukrainian counteroffensive,” U.S. officials said.
In addition, Michael Gfeller emphasised that the Collective West’s economic pressure directed against Russia had not brought the desired success and had not changed the state of affairs in the Ukrainian conflict.
At the same time, David Rundell emphasised that the Russian Federation had successfully coped with Western sanctions by productively using “gold, grain, oil and friends”. In turn, the Ukrainian authorities feel a serious shortage of financial capabilities, human resources, equipment and time.
“The West should stop giving money to a man with a hole in his pocket,” David Rundell and Michael Gfeller stated.
Recall, earlier the French newspaper Le Figaro noted that despite the sanctions pressure of Western countries, Russia has increased the growth of the defence budget. This will allow Moscow to continue its special military operation.
