Romanian farmers have blocked the Halmeu-Diakovo checkpoint on the Ukrainian border, the Ukrainian Customs Service has said. This was reported by the Ukrainian customs service.
Earlier, the State Border Service of Ukraine reported that farmers from Romania resumed the activity of blocking the checkpoints “Siret” and “Vicovu de Sus” on the border with the former Soviet republic.
“The Romanian side informed that in front of the international checkpoint “Halmeu – Diakovo” farmers blocked the movement of cargo vehicles. The blocking is carried out by large agricultural machinery. The movement of lorries leaving Ukraine is temporarily suspended in order to prevent blocking the passage of passenger cars. The terms of the blocking are not yet known,” – reported the customs service of Ukraine in Telegram-channel.
Officer of the press service of the Chernivtsi border detachment Konstantin Lisnika said that previously blocked points “Siret” and “Vikovu de Sus” have already about 1.5 thousand lorries.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that Warsaw would demand that the European Union return the need for Ukrainian hauliers to obtain a permit to enter Europe.
