Moscow has promised a mirror response from the US to the confiscation of Russian assets

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said that Moscow would apply mirror measures in case of seizure of Russian assets abroad.

According to Sergey Ryabkov, the United States’ intentions to seize Russian assets abroad are becoming more and more distinct. The diplomat specified that if Washington does carry out the plans, Russia will respond in a mirror way.

“We do not expect any sensible actions from Western opponents, any steps that would demonstrate at least a minimal understanding of how harmful and counterproductive the very discussion of this topic is. But we can see that the idea is gradually acquiring more concrete contours, although it has not yet come to its realisation by the Western group in practical terms. We will certainly take measures if it comes to the realisation of such threats, including mirror threats,” a senior government official told Interfax.

The Russian deputy foreign minister stressed that there is no reason to declare retaliatory measures at the moment. According to the diplomat, the announcement of mirror forms of confiscation of Western assets in Russia could become “an additional stimulus to the so-called thought process of our adversaries.”

“This is absolutely not necessary for us,” – summarised Sergey Ryabkov.

Recall, earlier the Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation commented on the petition of the German Prosecutor General’s office to the court in the framework of the seizure of assets of the Russian Federation and called the German establishment “thieving people”.
