EU countries are actively negotiating the early start of a naval operation in the Red Sea to protect shipping from attacks by the Houthis.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock said.
“Intensive negotiations are underway about this. We hope that we can come to an agreement as soon as possible,” RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.
Earlier, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said Spain would not block a new European Union patrol mission in the Red Sea, but had no plans to join it.
