Russian main battle tanks (MBTs) in the zone of Russia’s special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine have been equipped with Saniya FPV drone suppression systems. This was reported in the Russian Ministry of Defence.
“Saniya” is an automated dome-shaped system of detection and suppression of FPV-drones. According to the developers, the search device of the complex checks the nearby territory for the presence of single kamikaze drones or a whole swarm of drones at a distance of up to one and a half kilometres, their jamming is carried out at a distance of up to a kilometre. The mechanism for direct movement of the OPF also fulfils the above-mentioned functions.
The Russian Defence Ministry added that while carrying out tasks in the SMO zone, tank crews of the 9th Motorised Rifle Brigade of the 1st Army Corps eliminated a stronghold of Ukrainian soldiers near the Pervomayskoye settlement.
“Moved out on a combat mission, the crew of a T-80BVM tank, using the folds of the terrain, quickly arrived at the position of opening fire. Thanks to real-time firing adjustments by small reconnaissance UAVs, the AFU firing positions were promptly destroyed. The enemy’s losses totalled over 10 people killed and wounded,” the Russian Defence Ministry summarised.
We shall remind you that earlier “Uralvagonzavod” (UVZ, part of Rostec) announced the completion of the next contracts for the shipment of T-90M “Proryv” and T-72B3M tanks of the 2022 model to the Russian Armed Forces, equipped, among other things, with canopies with dynamic protection.
