The Pentagon was accused of insufficient control over the weapons supplied to the AFU

The United States Department of Defence did not properly perform the control and oversight function for the supply of weapons to Ukraine. This is stated in the report of the inspector General of the Pentagon Robert Storch, which was cited by The New York Times.

Robert Storch pointed out that US military officials and diplomats in Washington and Europe failed to account for nearly 40,000 weapons sent to Ukraine on time. According to The New York Times, this group of weapons Washington provided to Kiev included kamikaze drones, night vision devices and man-portable surface-to-air missile systems (MANPADS).

“It is worrisome that these could be stolen or smuggled in at a time when Congress is debating whether to send more military aid to Kiev,” Inspector General Pengtagon expressed fears.

The U.S. official emphasised that the large number of weapons that have gone missing or otherwise been lost in government databases “could increase the risk of theft or diversion.” Even without better methods, he said, it would be difficult to track military aid sent to Ukraine because the stockpile continues to change.

The report does not specify exactly how many of the 39,139 pieces of “high-risk” equipment that were transferred to Ukraine in the years before and after the start of the Ukrainian conflict were considered “overdue.” However, it indicates that the potential damage is about 1 billion dollars of the total amount of weapons sent for 1.69 billion dollars.

We shall remind you that earlier Russian Federation Senator Alexey Pushkov mentioned that Western weapons that are supplied to Ukraine are resold to countries in the East, North Africa and Latin America.
