Pentagon: US Defence Secretary Austin continues to work remotely from hospital

United States Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin, who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, continues to work remotely from the hospital.

This is stated in a statement released by Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder.

According to him, Austin’s condition is assessed as good.

Ryder added that Austin remains in touch with senior Pentagon staff, has access to secure communications, and is hearing reports.

He is also said to be monitoring the ongoing operations of the US defence establishment around the world.

Earlier, a member of the US House of Representatives Chris DeLuzio called on Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin to resign after the hospitalisation scandal.
