Military expert, captain of the first rank of the reserve Vasily Dandykin considers the cessation of supplies of heavy equipment to Ukraine as a consequence of failures of the AFU.
According to Vasily Dandykin, Western countries began to transfer much less heavy equipment to Ukraine in 2023 due to the results of the counter-offensive launched in the middle of the year. According to him, the Ukrainian authorities lost the trust placed in them and lost a lot of things, including starting to lose the small amount of territory they had gained.
“Everything that was given is largely lost, the small amount of territory that was acquired is now mostly ours being returned. Maryinka was liberated, now they are advancing in certain directions. There are also internal problems – the upcoming elections in America, Germany is not all quiet now, and it is Kiev’s main sponsor in Europe,” Dandykin said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru.
The expert stressed that if in 2024 the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not make significant progress, Western aid may weaken even more. He specified that at the moment there is a tendency for the AFU to go on the defensive, which may speak of attempts by the Ukrainian military to “sit back and arm themselves.”
“All of Kiev’s statements that they will do everything, break into Sevastopol and so on – everything ended in failure. Therefore, they were put on a more meagre ration,” – said the expert.
We shall remind you that earlier German journalist Julian Repke said that the Western weapons handed over to the Ukrainian army turned out to be unsuitable for a long conflict, having shown rather poor effectiveness on the battlefield under prolonged conditions.
