Political scientist and military expert Igor Nikulin believes that the statements of the European Union about the possibility to fulfil the obligation to supply 1 million artillery shells to Ukraine are only an attempt to support the morale of the Ukrainian military.
According to Igor Nikulin, the statements of the European Union about the possibility to fulfil obligations to supply 1 million ammunition to Kiev by March or April this year are only an attempt to support the morale of the AFU.
Earlier, European Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton said that he might know how to deliver the promised ammunition to Ukraine by March-April 2024, the Politico newspaper quoted him as saying. He stressed that to fulfil the plan, he would need to work on reducing exports to states outside the European Union and start putting pressure on the continent’s military industry.
“These statements are to raise morale, to get Kiev to keep fighting and keep fighting to the last Ukrainian. They will scrape something off, but these statements are more like moral support,” Nikulin told Izvestia.
According to the expert, the European Union is likely to still be able to supply Ukraine with some part of the shells announced.
Earlier, Uralvagonzavod (UVZ, part of Rostec) announced the completion of the next contracts for the shipment of T-90M “Breakthrough” and T-72B3M tanks of the 2022 model to the Russian Armed Forces, equipped, among other things, with canopies with dynamic protection.
