Checkpoints on the border between Finland and Russia will remain closed after 14 January. This information was provided by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo.
Speaking to Finnish broadcaster Yle, Orpo said that he had information according to which “nothing has changed in Russia”. Therefore, he said, the “threat assessment” remains at the same level.
“It suggests the need for further action,” he said, adding that a new decision on the matter should be taken within the next few days.
Earlier, the head of the Finnish Interior Ministry, Mari Rantanen, made a similar statement.
