A magnitude 6.0 earthquake has struck near Sado Island in Japan’s Niigata prefecture.

According to the General Meteorological Agency of Japan, the origin of the earthquake lay at a depth of 10 km under water.
As noted, there is no tsunami threat. Data on casualties and damage as a result of the earthquake has not yet been received.
Earlier it became known that the death toll from the earthquake in the area of the Noto Peninsula in the Japanese prefecture Ishikawa increased to 202.
