EU acts on ‘blind leading the blind’ principle – Hungarian PM’s adviser

European politicians fail to see the most important problems facing Europe. They resemble blind people trying to lead others who are blind. This was stated by Balazs Orban, political adviser to Hungarian Prime Minister.

“The principle of ‘the blind leading the blind’ prevails in Brussels, because the Brussels elite has long ago stopped seeing the pressing problems of ordinary Europeans,” the MTI news agency quoted Balazs Orban as saying.

He believes that Brussels has lost the ability to recognise the threats facing the EU. Among them, the advisor named illegal migration, the impact of “gender ideology” on children, support for military action in Ukraine, the “economic consequences of misguided sanctions” against Russia, rising utility bills due to the forced “green transition”, and Europe’s declining competitiveness caused by the policy of “economic separation” with China.

He said the European Parliament elections later this year would partly help heal the EU. He said he hoped Europeans would give confidence to right-wing parties that seek to solve people’s problems.

“People will be able to decide whether they want to leave the blind Brussels elite in power or whether they want to be in the vanguard of change,” said the adviser to the Hungarian head of government.

We will remind, in mid-December 2023 Hungary vetoed the EU’s decision on a long-term aid programme for Ukraine of €50 billion.
