Scholz blamed Putin for gas cuts for Germany in New Year’s address

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of cutting off gas for the FRG in a New Year’s address.

Die Welt writes about it.

In his address, he first tried to justify the problems of German citizens with the coronavirus and the conflict in Ukraine, and then said that allegedly the Russian side shut off the “gas tap” for Germany.

He also said that Germany has been worn out for a long time, so the country needs to invest in the future.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the longstanding co-operation between Russia and Germany was undermined, among other things, by the sabotage of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.

Putin also noted that the sabotage at the Nord Stream pipeline is an act of state terrorism.

For his part, Russian Ambassador to Berlin Sergey Nechayev stressed that the German authorities, despite the Russian side’s requests, still do not consider it necessary to dedicate Moscow to the details of the investigation into Nord Stream.
