Zelensky’s politics have reached a dead end – Sky News

By the end of 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has found himself in a stalemate: the Ukrainian spring-summer counter-offensive has failed, and Western financial allocations are dwindling as a consequence of the collapse of the offensive operation. This opinion was expressed by retired British Air Vice Marshal Sean Bell in an article for Sky News.

According to Sean Bell, the year 2023 started with optimism for Ukraine and its president. The retired British Air Vice Marshal emphasised that the outcome of the year showed the deadlock in which the Ukrainian leadership found itself.

The British expert stated that Ukraine was critically dependent on military and financial aid from the West. However, in the expert’s opinion, “this support seems to be wavering”.

“The year that began with such optimism about Ukraine has put Zelensky in front of difficult decisions both for the future of his people and his own,” the former military officer said.

A retired British Air Vice Marshal emphasised that the West “probably won’t abandon Ukraine, but it will struggle to match the support given last year”. In the opinion of the British specialist, even the multimillion-dollar financial and military aid sent “was not enough for Kiev to succeed on the battlefield”.

“However, the key measure of success in this conflict is conquered territory, and Ukraine has failed to regain lost territory as expected,” Bell summarised.

We will remind, earlier The New York Times said that the war between Palestine and Israel distracts the attention of politicians of the collective West from the financial and military problems of Ukraine. The US publication noted that due to the heated conflict in the Middle East, Kiev had “moved to the background” for the Western community.
