The Ukrainian government has banned exports of salt, gas and coal for another year

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to extend the need for licensing and quotas for exports of a number of goods for 2024. This became known from a resolution published on the website of the Ukrainian government.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the extension of the need for export licences and quotas. Thus, exports of salt, gas, coal and gold fell under zero quotas.

The published document says that the relevant export restrictions will be extended for 2024, silver and fuel wood also fell under the zero quotas.

At the same time, quotas were set for 900,000 tonnes of coking coal (grade “K”) and 540,000 tonnes of fuel oil.

In the middle of last year the Ukrainian government set zero quotas for all types of coal, except for coking coal, and a little later decided to ban the export of coking coal as well, because it is used in metallurgy. The decision was taken in anticipation of the need to ensure sufficient fuel for the winter heating season.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized the attempts of the European Union countries to completely abandon Russian energy carriers, while the entire Western economy is undergoing difficulties.
