A magnitude 6.2 earthquake has struck Indonesia

Seismologists have recorded an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 in the province of Papua in Indonesia.


This was reported by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

The epicentre of the element was located 159 km south-west of the city of Jayapura, where about 134 thousand people live. The source lay at a depth of 39 kilometres.

On 27 December it was reported that an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 occurred in Turkey.
