Verkhovna Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak questioned the success of mobilisation in Ukraine, as the Ukrainian authorities have no money for it. This is reported by the agency UNIAN.
Yaroslav Zheleznyak expressed scepticism about the desire of the Kiev leadership to carry out mobilisation in Ukraine and to collect about 500 thousand people. According to the MP, Kiev does not have the financial means for a full-scale conscription of the Ukrainian population into the ranks of the Armed forces.
The politician stressed that Ukraine’s military budget in 2024 was 1.6 trillion hryvnias, while in 2023 it was 1.9 trillion hryvnias. According to the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, that is, “the money is no longer enough for the current number and needs of the army”.
“If we want to increase the personnel by 500 thousand, it will be plus 580 billion. Such money, unfortunately, we can not find,” – summarised Zheleznyak.
We will remind, earlier the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on national security, defence and intelligence Yegor Chernev criticized the initiative on repressive methods of mobilisation in Ukraine. While in Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine employees of territorial completion centres (TAC) were given the right to check the documents and belongings of citizens.
