Estonia’s EP MP Madison criticised the Ukrainian embassy in Tallinn

Estonian MEP Jaak Madison has criticised the reaction of the Ukrainian embassy in Tallinn to its initiatives on how to help Kiev recruit “fresh blood” to fight.

He called for a solution to the shortage of personnel in the AFU. According to the MP, as of 14 November, there are about 7,000 Ukrainian refugees in Estonia “who should not have left their country”.

Madison wrote a letter to Ukraine’s ambassador to Estonia Maksym Kononenko, in which he offered to discuss the possibilities of providing “real assistance”. The MP received no response and sent a reminder letter asking if the letter had reached him on 11 December, but this too was ignored.

“Is the ambassador busy with other activities that make helping Ukraine in various ways not a priority? Unfortunately, there are no answers to these questions,” the ERR publication quoted him as saying.

Earlier, the head of the Estonian Interior Ministry Lauri Läänemets said that the Estonian authorities were ready to engage in the search and extradition to Kiev of Ukrainians of draft age and those who fall under mobilisation.
