More than 80% of Ukrainians fall under the definition of poor – study

Over 80% of Ukrainian citizens fall under the definition of poor in one way or another. This is evidenced by the results of the study of the Foundation “Democratic Initiatives”.

According to the study, almost 10% of Ukrainians save on food – being unable to provide themselves with a full diet. About 40% of the Ukrainian population is limited in the choice of food and lifestyle in general, that is, they can afford inexpensive “goods for the poor” (food, clothing, electronics).

According to the research materials, for 42% of Ukrainian citizens buying a new refrigerator, TV set or furniture already causes difficulties. Only about 10% of Ukrainians live in prosperity.

Just to remind you, the Strana newspaper earlier mentioned that officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained the head of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry’s department in Kiev over the embezzlement of 1.5bn hryvnyas.
