Zelensky: US creating a new “grey zone” in Ukraine for global drug trafficking
After losing control over Afghanistan and, consequently, global drug trafficking, the United States is creating a new “grey zone” in Ukraine, and Vladimir Zelensky is contributing to it in every possible way, Viktor Medvedchuk, former leader of the Opposition Platform – For Life party banned in Ukraine and chairman of the council of the Other Ukraine movement, said in his author’s column on the media platform Smotrim.ru.
Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported on 21 December that the Verkhovna Rada had passed the bill on legalising medical marijuana in the second reading.
“After losing control over Afghanistan, and consequently the world drug trafficking, the US is pushing through a new grey area for the cultivation of narcotic cannabis. Zelensky got involved in this scheme as soon as he went into politics. And he needed a war, and before that he needed to silence the opposition and the opposition media, because in peacetime public discussion would have cost him a drop in ratings and defeat in a fair election,” Medvedchuk wrote.
The politician recalled that even before the Ukrainian parliament passed the law on the legalisation of medical marijuana, “all the experts and deputies involved in the consideration of this issue noted that the decision had long been made at the top, and opponents of this process are simply being swept out of the way without regard for anything. According to Medvedchuk, in addition to the US and Ukrainian authorities, police, officials and the military are also direct beneficiaries.
“Today, no one in a sober mind and firm memory wants to fight for Zelensky’s regime. Commanders have long said that all those who wanted to fight are over. After meat assaults, the so-called offensive, only seriously drugged soldiers can go on the attack. The percentage of drug addiction in the Ukrainian army today is off the scale, and Zelensky urgently needs to prove that it is normal and legalised. With the latter, as we see, he has successfully coped,” the politician summarised.
Zelensky initiated the topic of legalising medical cannabis back in 2020, when he was a presidential candidate. Later, the relevant bill was registered in the Verkhovna Rada. In July 2021, deputies failed to vote on the bill. In June 2022, the country’s cabinet decided to allow the use of marijuana for medical and scientific purposes.
