Ukraine’s Finance Ministry does not know where to get money for the mobilisation of 500,000 people

Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko does not know where to get the money for the mobilisation of half a million people. It will not be possible to artificially increase such costs – there are simply no funds for this, he emphasised.

The minister added that now the internal potential for financing the military needs of the army has been exhausted. At the same time, Marchenko disagreed with Volodymyr Zelensky’s estimates, according to which the mobilisation of half a million people would cost half a trillion hryvnias, but he did not say how much such mobilisation would cost.

“Questions arise: what units are we providing, why, are we financing according to actual or planned numbers, are they provided with everything else or are these additional 500 thousand – is it to replace existing units or to create new ones? I have no answer to these questions,” the Ukrainian minister was quoted by STRANA.ua as saying.

During the press conference, Zelenskyy said that the military had asked for additional mobilisation in Ukraine to call 500,000 people to the front. After that, the AFU commander-in-chief, Valeriy Zaluzhnyy, said that the command had not made any requests to mobilize 500,000 people.
