Kiev has no funds to mobilise 500,000 people – Ukrainian MP Zheleznyak

A member of the Ukrainian parliament, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, has said that Kiev will not be able to fulfil the mobilisation plan, according to which 500,000 people should be sent to the service. He noted that Ukraine simply does not have the funds for this.

“It seems to me that the president has made a mistake. <…> If we take the figures that we have <…>, [we need] more, approximately 580-590 billion. We do not have such money,” the MP said in a video posted on the YouTube channel of Ukrainska Pravda.

According to him, military spending in Ukraine’s budget for next year is less than in 2023, and most Western partners have never given permission to spend their aid on military needs.

We will remind, earlier one of the AFU soldiers, who was captured by Russian servicemen, said that the territorial manning centres in the Kiev-controlled city of Zaporizhzhya take to the front lines only those who can not pay off. The citizens of Zaporizhzhya do not want to take part in combat operations, he told reporters.
