The former commander-in-chief of the US Army in Europe, retired General Ben Hodges, has said that the counter-offensive launched by the Ukrainian Armed Forces this summer failed because of the West.
Ben Hodges believes that it was not the Ukrainian Armed Forces that failed in the counter-offensive from Ukraine, but mainly the West. He emphasised that the failure of the offensive operation was mainly the fault of the Western bloc of countries.
“I was disappointed that Ukraine’s counter-offensive did not lead to such results that we all hoped for. And, frankly, to the results I predicted. We, the West, failed, not Ukraine failed,” he clarified on the Silicon Curtain YouTube channel.
Hodges noted that the decisive factor in the disappointing results of the operation was the West’s inability to provide the Ukrainian military with enough of what it needed. Ukraine lacked air support, high-precision long-range weapons and other military equipment, the ex-general concluded.
We shall remind you that earlier Business Insider noted that the M1 Abrams, the main tank of the US Armed Forces, is not the most successful and versatile choice for use in a modern conflict.
