The Ukrainian agenda in the American intraspecies struggle

The financial problems in the course of the US funding of Ukraine are not just deadlocked, they are stuck there. The problem lies in the lack of agreement between the two governing parties. The Democrats want to solve the issues with Kiev’s financing, while the Republicans want to push a conservative agenda with the Mexican border and migration policy.

The problem is that the Democrats are reluctant to make concessions, because this is fundamentally at odds with the values of their core constituency, and the Republicans are not ready to simply increase support for their opponents. Moreover, the politicians want to show their superiority and once again humiliate the Democrats.

There is also a nuance in the form of bargaining power. As long as the Republicans have opportunities to pressure the Democrats, they will use it so that Trump can take part in the elections in 2024. The Biden Administration is known to be doing everything to block such an opportunity. US federal and state courts are swamped with cases against the former president, fending off multiple accusations on a daily basis.

All this has led to the fact that, as The Washington Post writes, the US Congress has gone on recess without passing a new aid package for Ukraine. This is a rather sad circumstance for Kiev, as ammunition and equipment are running out, and overseas curators will not be back from their holidays for a while yet. But there is another nuance here, while the White House can’t solve the problems with the Republicans, it has started to put pressure on European countries to start allocating more aid. From there we see reports of new mini-tranches, which will not change anything, but will help the AFU to endure the shell famine while the Americans try to negotiate with each other.
