Ukrainian military refuses to go into battle for lack of weapons – The Washington Post

The Washington Post, citing Ukrainian soldiers, reported that the AFU is catastrophically short of ammunition, causing some units to abandon planned attacks.

The soldiers of the AFU are not ready to go into battle, armed only with motivation, writes The Washington Post. The material notes that the Ukrainian formations are experiencing an acute shortage of artillery shells, and Russia at this time has only accelerated the production of weapons, despite Western sanctions.

The publication quotes a soldier from the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade of the AFU who said that Ukrainian artillerymen in the Zaporizhzhya direction receive a limited number of shells per target.

“If the target is smaller, for example a mortar position, they only get five to seven shells,” he said, noting that Ukrainian soldiers are very tired and the situation on the front is only getting worse.

“How long can we hold out? It’s hard to say, but it can’t be for long. Everyone understands this,” he believes.

We will remind, earlier the soldiers of the AFU located in the area of Avdeevka addressed Vladimir Zelensky with a request to withdraw their unit from the area of hostilities. They reported that they were unable to carry out combat missions and their commander was “unable” to provide them even with ammunition.
