German Ambassador to Russia Alexander Lambsdorff says Berlin will still have to interact with Moscow.
In an interview with RND, he noted that the German and Russian authorities have completely different positions on fundamental issues. However, the ambassador said, Russia remains the world’s largest country by area, has a permanent seat on the UN Security Council and is a neighbour of the European Union.
“So we will have to deal with Russia,” Lambsdorf added.
Earlier, Bundestag member Sarah Wagenknecht said that by supporting sanctions against Russia, Germany is waging an economic war not against Moscow, but against itself.
