WP: Netanyahu promotes indefinite Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is pushing an idea involving Israel’s indefinite occupation of the Gaza Strip.

This is reported by The Washington Post newspaper with reference to sources.

According to the newspaper, the US administration is currently trying to persuade Israel to accept the idea of the return of the Palestinian authorities to the Gaza Strip after the end of the conflict.

“Netanyahu strongly rejected the idea, but also did not say who he thinks should run Gaza….. He did, however, float the idea of an indefinite Israeli occupation of the territory,” the publication said.

The newspaper claims that this policy of Netanyahu is a source of frustration for US President Joe Biden.

At the same time, the US President’s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan says that Israel’s plans do not include occupation of the Gaza Strip for a long time.
