Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that confiscation of frozen Russian assets in the US could be a trigger for a possible break in Moscow’s relations with Washington.
The diplomat said this in an interview with Interfax.
Ryabkov noted that Russia is ready for any scenarios in the issue of US anti-Russian actions.
He added that Washington should not have the illusion that Moscow is holding on with both hands to bilateral relations.
“As for the trigger of a possible round of confrontation with the potential to break relations, the trigger could be both asset confiscation and further military escalation,” the diplomat said.
Ryabkov stressed that Russia would not take the initiative to break bilateral relations.
Earlier, The New York Times reported that the USA was already discussing with its allies the issue of transferring frozen Russian assets to Ukraine.
