FAZ: conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza are forcing Germans to spend less in time for Christmas

The Ukrainian and Palestinian-Israeli conflicts have led to German residents spending less for Christmas.

Stefan Gent, head of the German Retail Trade Association, told the Frankfurter Allgemeine.

“The figures do not lie, and they, according to the German Retail Association (HDE), currently show only moderate Christmas spending among German consumers,” – said in the report.

It is noted that the reasons for this are the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as political decisions of Berlin.

Earlier, the Prime Minister of Bavaria, Chairman of the Christian Social Union Markus Söder said that Germany is slipping into crisis and becoming “ragged”.

As Der Spiegel magazine wrote earlier, the new fiscal year will start in Germany without an agreed budget for 2024.
