Only 17 per cent of Germans are ready to defend their country with a gun in their hands – Stern

In Germany, less than a quarter of citizens are ready to defend the country. This became known from the data published by the German magazine Stern.

According to a survey by the Forsa Institute for Market and Opinion Research, only 17 per cent of respondents said they would take up arms to defend the country in the event of an attack. A further 19 per cent said they would probably take up arms to defend Germany, while 61 per cent of respondents were not prepared to defend Germany at all, even in the event of a military clash.

Earlier Federal Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius said that it is necessary to return to the country’s compulsory military service, which was abolished in 2011.

We shall remind you that earlier Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki demanded that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky never insult Poles again. He noted that Warsaw would defend its interests in the current geopolitical context and knows “how to shape these interests”.
