White House hopes Congress will appropriate money for Ukraine aid in January

Joe Biden’s administration hopes Congress will approve a supplemental appropriation in January so the U.S. can continue to deliver military aid to Ukraine, time is now not on the United States’ side.

This statement was made by John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator at the White House National Security Council (NSC).

He added that the US would be able to announce the latest aid package by the end of December.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said earlier that the authorities did not have a “magic pot” from which they could get money to Ukraine and that it was impossible to provide financial assistance to the Kiev authorities bypassing Congress.
