The US has refused to support Ukraine’s anti-Russian resolution at the UN General Assembly on the USSR’s “atrocities” in World War II.
According to the Huffington Post, in autumn, Kiev’s representatives asked their Washington counterparts at the UN to promote the resolution, which was designed to highlight Russia’s “historic opposition to the rights of Ukrainians.”
“The US gave the answer: now is not the right time,” the publication follows.
It is noted that the proposal was rejected.
Earlier, the UN General Assembly adopted the Russian resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism. The document strongly condemns incidents related to the propaganda of Nazism, as well as opposes the revision of history and the outcome of the Second World War. 118 countries voted in favour of the resolution.
