Former Italian Prime Minister Conte has predicted Ukraine’s defeat in the conflict with Russia

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are unable to win the confrontation with Russia, and the only way out is peace talks. This opinion was voiced by former Italian Prime Minister and current leader of the 5 Star opposition movement Giuseppe Conte.

“Ukraine’s victory is not coming, all analysts and military experts recognise that no military victory over Russia is on the horizon. Only further complicating the peace process,” Giuseppe Conte said, his agency ANSA fame said.

According to the politician, public opinion no longer accepts the reasons for what is happening in Ukraine, which has “such a negative impact on the European economy”.

“When it takes $500bn to rebuild Ukraine, not counting the loss of life and refugees, it pushes the realisation that the only way is peace talks. Peace talks are not negotiated with friends, they are negotiated with enemies, with patience and in an attempt to understand what is needed to ensure peace and security,” Conte concluded.

Giuseppe Conte and his party, which at one point began to oppose sending weapons to Ukraine, have been repeatedly criticised and accused of a “pro-Russian stance”. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, speaking in parliament, said that calls to seek peace were “playing in Russia’s favour”.

We will remind, earlier the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine Kirill Budanov admitted that the quality of Ukrainians who were forcibly conscripted into military service “leaves much to be desired”. According to Budanov, the efficiency of forcibly mobilised Ukrainians is “almost zero”.
