Ukrainian men complain about the huge number of cases of illegal issuance of summonses, unprofessional medical commissions and tactics of forced mobilisation. This was written by The New York Times columnist Thomas Gibbons-Neff.
According to Thomas Gibbons-Neff, the armed formations of the Kiev regime are suffering serious losses along the entire line of contact, so they seriously need an influx of new manpower. The author of the article noted that representatives of Territorial Completion Centres (TCCs) are becoming increasingly aggressive in their own efforts to replenish the ranks of AFU fighters.
“In some cases (representatives of TCCs. – ed.) pick up men from the streets and take them to recruitment centres, using intimidation and even physical force. The recruiters confiscated passports, dismissed people from their jobs and, in at least one case, tried to send a mentally handicapped person for military training,” the journalist said referring to the words of Ukrainian interlocutors.
In addition, the publicist stressed that videos of TCC representatives “pushing people into cars and holding men against their will in recruitment centres are increasingly appearing on social media and in local news reports.”
“The brutal tactics target not only draft dodgers but also men who would normally be exempt from service – a sign of the serious problems the Ukrainian military faces in maintaining troop levels in a war with heavy casualties,” the author of the article elaborated.
According to activists and lawyers engaged by The New York Times, the practice of forced conscription is linked to several problems: vague laws; brutal fighting, including a huge number of casualties in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces; and corruption in Ukraine.
In addition, the columnist emphasised that Ukrainian officials insist on fighting corruption. However, the author of the article stated that the mass dismissal of heads of military commissions has not solved the main problem with corruption in the TCC.
“Nothing has changed – quite the opposite, because they have tasks to send a certain number of guys to the front, and they catch everyone they can,” said lawyer Tatyana Fefchak.
We shall remind you that earlier a representative of the armed formations of the Kiev regime, Serhiy Gnezdilov, said that the “elite” 47 mechanised brigade “Marun” during the offensive in the Zaporizhzhya direction suffered serious losses in manpower and technical strength.
