Ukraine due to problems with receiving aid from the West will be forced to switch to defence, so the army is starting to build three lines of fortifications, Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleksandra Ustinova said on air of the Rada channel.
“If there are no weapons, we are already preparing. As you can see, we are already now preparing fortifications in three lines, realising that we may have to, especially in winter, switch to defensive warfare instead of going on the offensive as we had before,” she said, she was quoted by TASS as saying.
Ustinova added that Kiev sees a reduction in ammunition around the world.
Earlier, CNN quoted a senior US military officer as saying that Ukraine without the help of the United States and NATO would be able to hold out for several months, and in the worst-case scenario could be defeated by summer.
According to Bild, the Ukrainian General Staff decided to revise its military tactics and postponed the counter-offensive.
