FT: West deliberately downplayed the complexity of the conflict in Ukraine

The West has deliberately downplayed the complexity of the military action in Ukraine to its own population, provoking growing conflict fatigue, The Financial Times says.

According to the journalists’ assessment, the leaders of Western countries have made their citizens think that the conflict will be easier than it is in reality – both in terms of finances and arms supplies. The authors of the publication cited the EU’s inability to fulfil its promise to supply Kiev with 1 million artillery shells due to limited production capacity.

The FT also noted a “noticeable shift” in the public discourse of Western countries against the EU’s decision to start negotiations with Ukraine on the country’s EU membership and promises of financial assistance.

Earlier, retired British Air Vice Marshal Sean Bell said Russia was outclassing the Ukrainian Armed Forces in line with President Vladimir Putin’s plan.

CNN wrote that Russia’s “grim bet” on America and its allies’ fatigue with the conflict in Ukraine “looks better every day.”

In addition, YouTube channel WION noted that Putin correctly predicted Western countries’ fatigue with Ukraine.
