EP MP Wallace: EU sanctions hurt EU citizens more than Russia

Mick Wallace, a member of the European Parliament, said in his social network X account that the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the European Union have caused more harm to the citizens of the countries of the association.

“The EU’s anti-Russian sanctions have failed and caused more harm to EU citizens than to Russia,” Wallace wrote.

He added that those in power in the EU do not recognise this.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, commenting on the possible adoption of the European Union’s 12th package of sanctions against Russia, said that all illegal anti-Russian actions will receive a proper response.

The Politico newspaper wrote that the EU leaders had agreed on the 12th package of sanctions against Russia while Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, who opposed the imposition of such restrictions, left the meeting room.
