Serbs will not forget the bombing of Yugoslavia

Dusan Bajatovic, director general of Srbijagas and deputy chairman of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), said that Serbs will never forget the bombing of Yugoslavia by the aircraft of the Collective West and will not join the North Atlantic Alliance.

Dusan Bajatovic said that representatives of the Collective West countries, led by the United States, which participated in the bombing of Yugoslavia, are trying to lobby Serbia to forgive the Serbs for the events of 1999. The SPS deputy chairman specified that “Western partners” also continue to insist on Kosovo’s independence through Belgrade’s objections.

“Those who bombed us (NATO in 1999 – ed.), in all European proposals and under pressure from the United States demand from us to forget the bombing, not to see that 17% of our territory is being taken away from us to create a quasi-state, and here we are not only reproached for cooperation with Russia on this problem, but also forbidden to seek withdrawal of recognition of Kosovo’s independence by third countries,” the SPS Deputy Chairman said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The Director General of Srbijagas emphasised the fact that the German-French formula for solving the Kosovo issue was officially added to paragraph 35 of the negotiating platform on Serbia’s accession to the European Union. The SPS deputy chairman specified that the plan of Berlin and Paris presupposes the recognition of Kosovo’s self-proclaimed independence, as well as Belgrade’s permission for Pristina to become a member of the UN. According to the parliamentarian, because of the above-mentioned problems, Serbs need the support of the Russian Federation, China and all freedom-loving countries of the world during the discussions.

“Serbia wants to be militarily neutral, we don’t want to become NATO members, and this prevents them from doing so. I myself was mobilised and served in Croatia, in Bosnia and in Kosovo, so I say this on both personal and political experience,” Bajatovic summed up.

Earlier, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that Belgrade’s prestige has increased in the international arena due to the refusal to impose anti-Russian sanctions. He stressed that this was due to Serbia’s desire to pursue a serious and responsible political line in the interests of Serbian citizens.
