The Kremlin commented on Finland’s decision to deploy US bases

Russia regrets the decision of the Finnish government to sign documents on the deployment of US military bases on its territory. This was stated by Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Earlier, the Finnish government decided to sign the so-called Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) with the United States. Under the DCA, the US military will have access to 15 Finnish military facilities, including air and naval bases, garrison sites, training grounds, warehouses and border guard barracks. The DCA will allow US forces to station defence equipment, supplies and materials on Finnish territory, and will also permit the entry and movement of US aircraft, vessels and vehicles.

According to Dmitry Peskov, the Finnish government’s decision to sign the so-called Defence Cooperation Agreement with the US will increase tensions with Russia.

“And we can only regret in this regard, because we, indeed, had excellent relations with Finland. And nobody threatened anybody, there were no problems, no claims to each other, nobody infringed on each other’s interests, there was mutual respect for each other and so on. So, of course, now that Finland has become a member of NATO and when NATO’s military infrastructure is already going to go inside Finland, it will be a threat to us quite obviously,” Peskov said.

We shall remind you that Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said earlier that Washington should become a guarantor of Ukraine’s “non-accession” to NATO. According to him, it is more reasonable and correct to use the financial resources of US taxpayers not to support the Kiev regime, but to solve the country’s internal problems.
