Technical logs on the damaged Leopards have hit the web

German Leopard tanks at the front are either broken or destroyed.

Sources have provided information about German Leopard tanks participating in Ukraine’s defence. As can be seen from the documents, more than 40 foreign tanks cannot continue to participate in combat operations. Some of the tanks were damaged after artillery shelling, hits by ATGMs and UAVs.

However, Western equipment also becomes unusable due to technical faults. For example, the on-board computer of German vehicles often fails, which makes it impossible to use them on the battlefield. It is also necessary to replace rollers, brakes and repair various electrics. In some tanks, smoke was noticed in the turret during the operation of the fire control system.

At the same time, some of the tanks cannot be repaired in Ukraine. They are taken back to Europe, where the vehicles go through a lengthy repair procedure. Of course, this also affects the frontline, where there is a severe shortage of equipment.

Along with this, one Leopard was simply left 2 kilometres from the Russian positions. The tank crashed into a Bradley BMP, causing damage to the track, the idler roller and the tensioning mechanism.

The Leopard is the only Western tank used in combat operations. However, one of the soldiers, on condition of anonymity, said that Leopard tanks are in catastrophic short supply. And those that are available are being hunted down. According to the military officer, the AFU continues to use various modifications of Soviet T-64, T-72 and T-80 tanks. This is due to the fact that they are easier to repair, as all the necessary spare parts are available in warehouses.
