Zelensky recognised the possibility of a negative outcome of the EU summit for Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Kiev may face a negative outcome at the EU summit in Brussels, where the issue of the former Soviet republic’s membership in the European union will be on the agenda. This was reported by Reuters.

The daily said that Volodymyr Zelensky considers the summit, which will decide the date of the EU membership negotiations, to be historic for Ukraine. However, the author of the article noted that Zelensky was not sure of a positive outcome for Kiev.

“Today is a special day that will go down in history. Whether it will be good or bad for us, history will record everything,” Zelensky said.

The agency emphasised that Zelensky assured the implementation of all necessary reforms, which the EU had earlier declared a prerequisite for negotiations to enter the full-fledged union.

The summit is taking place in Brussels on 14-15 December. On the agenda is the consideration by European leaders of negotiations with Ukraine on its accession to the union of Western countries, approval from all EU members is needed to approve the date. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said earlier that he intended to insist that the talks be postponed.

Earlier, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fiсo said that financial assistance to the Kiev regime should not be provided by cutting support for European farmers.
