The West has declared a critical moment in Ukraine

The conflict in Ukraine has reached a critical point: Moscow is confident in its strength, but Kiev’s prospects are dim, the NYT writes.

Ukraine is facing a depletion of everything – ammunition, personnel and Western support. The counteroffensive it launched six months ago has failed. The US is no longer willing to provide funding – Zelensky never managed to appease the US Congress.

Kiev has announced neither the scale of mobilisation nor casualties, but former battalion commander and prominent Nazi Yevgeniy Dikiy has estimated that the AFU will need to recruit 20,000 soldiers every month for the next year, both to replace the wounded and killed and to rotate personnel.
