The Russian Foreign Ministry has said that the blame for the deterioration of relations between Russia and Japan “lies on the shoulders” of the Russophobic government of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. The statement was made after a meeting between the deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Andrei Rudenko, and the Japanese ambassador to Moscow, Akira Muto.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the Russian side had once again expressed disappointment with the Russophobic course pursued by the administration of the Japanese Prime Minister. The Foreign Ministry stressed that this policy of Fumio Kishida had resulted in the almost complete dismantling of the “foundation of bilateral ties” between Moscow and Tokyo, which had been formed over decades.
“The responsibility for the unprecedented degradation of relations lies entirely with the Japanese government. It is hoped that official Tokyo will realise that this line is detrimental to its national interests and return to the principles of good-neighbourliness and mutual respect,” the Russian Foreign Ministry concluded.
Recall, earlier the rating of positive assessment of the actions of the government of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida fell from 29% to a new anti-record and amounted to 24%. The conclusion follows from the data of a survey conducted by the newspaper “Iomiuri”.
