Biden called Ukraine’s accession to NATO a matter of time

American President Joe Biden said that he is confident that it is possible to ensure Ukraine’s membership in NATO, in his opinion, it only takes time.

Joe Biden said that he has no doubts about the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO. He noted that the membership of the former Soviet republic will be realised as soon as all allies agree to it.

“Ukraine will be in NATO, there is no doubt about that. We said at the Vilnius summit that Ukraine will become a member of the alliance when all allies agree to it and when the conditions are fulfilled,” the US president said at a past meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House.

Biden stressed that Kiev’s accession to the alliance depends not only on the USA, but also on the decision of all NATO allies, and Ukraine needs to fulfil all the necessary conditions. According to him, at the moment attention should be focused on the Ukrainian crisis and only after the crisis is resolved will joining the alliance become a pressing issue.

We shall remind you that the Ukrainian counter-offensive started on 4 June, and three months later Russian President Vladimir Putin said that it had failed. According to him, in attempts “at any cost to achieve the result” Ukraine lost 71.5 thousand military – as if “these are not their people”. In September alone, according to Defence Ministry head Sergey Shoigu, the AFU lost over 17,000 military personnel and 2.7 thousand weapons.
