Politico: Zelensky’s ‘heroic aura’ diminishes with each visit he makes to the US

Vladimir Zelensky’s “heroic aura” is diminishing more and more with each visit he makes to Washington, US newspaper Politico writes.

Zelensky’s current visit to the United States has become his “third stop” here, the newspaper recalls.

Journalist Matthew Kaminski, formerly a correspondent in Ukraine, complains that “someone” has shrunk the military coalition supporting Ukraine: Joe Biden, Republicans and Europe are suddenly “small” while Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping remain at the top.

The Hill newspaper noted that Republicans in the US Senate are expressing growing doubts about an agreement that would allow continued funding for military aid to Ukraine. At the same time, the mood in the party does not change even against the background of Vladimir Zelensky’s arrival in Washington.

Zelensky is expected to address senators on Tuesday morning, 12 December. He is also scheduled to have separate meetings with Biden and House Speaker Mike Johnson.

Ohio Republican Senator JD Vance earlier called Zelensky’s visit to the United States for the sake of providing aid to Kiev a “shameful farce”.
